Children & Young People
St Paul’s provides a home to a variety of regular groups and activities aimed at children and young people, details of which you will find below.
Toddler Group runs every Monday morning from 9.30-11.15am during term-time. Babies, toddlers and pre-school age children will find a great selection of toys, books and a weekly craft activity to entertain them, whilst their parents and carers can enjoy a catch up with friends, tea, coffee and delicious home-made cakes. Water, juice and a selection of healthy snacks are also provided for the children.
Messy Church is held at regular times throughout the year at St Paul’s – most recently on Saturday afternoons. It is aimed at families with children of all ages who want to experience church in a fun, creative, celebratory and welcoming environment. A typical Messy Church event might involve playing games, getting involved in craft activities, story-telling, singing songs and listening to music. A light meal and drinks are also provided. Messy Church is a free event run by volunteers. However, donations towards our running costs are always gratefully received.
Faithbuilders is a children’s group that meets during the 9.45am Sunday morning service. They build their faith by learning about Bible stories and taking part in creative activities.
Churpies, our friendly children’s music group, meets on Thursdays during term-time from 5.45-6.15pm and offers free musical education to children aged 0-7 years old. We sing a mixture of Christian and secular music, whilst learning various musical skills through fun and games.
At Churpies we play lots of different games designed to teach children the basics of singing and rhythm. We also learn some popular children’s worship songs with actions or percussion accompaniment. Children under the age of five can come with a grown-up; children over the age of five can stay unaccompanied.

Our friendly children’s choir meets on Thursdays from 6.30-7.30pm and offers free musical education to anyone aged 6-21 years old. We sing a mixture of Christian and secular music, whilst learning various musical skills through fun and games.
Rehearsals start at 6.30pm with twenty minutes of songs and musical games. During this time, children enjoy spending time together and learn to read music, sing and play percussion instruments. At 6.50pm, we start rehearsing music for concerts and Sunday services.
St Paul’s Junior Choir sings regularly on Sunday mornings at 9.45am and at other church services and community events; although we encourage attendance, it is not compulsory. There are plenty of other events for you to sing at if you don’t attend on Sundays.
