St Paul’s provides a home to a variety of regular groups and activities for adults, details of which you will find listed below.
Younger Adults Group
The St Paul’s Younger Adults Group (formally known as the 18-30s Group) meets every couple of weeks for Bible study, trips to the cinema and meals out. Despite our name, there is no age limit, so if you would like to find out more about us or get involved, please get in touch.
Our Home Group meets on most Tuesday evenings throughout the year for Bible study, topical conversation and for occasional social activities. Come along regularly or occasionally – all welcome.
Our newly created Meditation Group meets on Monday evenings from 8-9pm in church. Join us for an hour of meditation, silence, prayer and reflection. Come along on a regular basis, or just once in a while – all welcome.
The St Paul’s branch of the Mothers’ Union meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month throughout the year. The Mothers’ Union provides its members with a network through which they can serve Christ, in their own community – through prayer, financial support and actively working at the grassroots level in programmes that meet local needs.
Our choir comprises both young and old and is made up of members of the congregation, the local community and further afield. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7.30-8.30pm and sing at the 9.45am service most weeks. From time to time, we also sing at Sunday evening services and at special celebratory services throughout the year. We are always looking for new members, so if you are interested in joining, please click here and our Director of Music, Thomas Dixon, will be in touch.
The St Paul’s Book Group meets at 7.30pm on the last Wednesday evening of most months throughout the year. We read a variety of genres, fiction and non-fiction and occasionally watch a book-related DVD.
The St Paul’s Play Group meets at 7.30pm on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening once a month throughout the year. We read a cross-section of plays ranging from comedy to drama. New members are always welcome, whether to read or listen.
Thursday Lunch Club (TLC)
Thursday Lunch Club, otherwise known as TLC, meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month throughout the year and provides an opportunity for local people to come together to enjoy good food and good company in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We meet at 12 noon and eat at 12.30pm. There is usually a choice of two delicious home-cooked main courses and puddings, followed by tea and coffee – all for an extremely reasonable £4 per person. TLC is becoming ever more popular, so advance booking is required. For more information, or to book your place, please click here.
Dementia Support Group
The St Paul’s Dementia Support Group meets approximately 3-4 times a year at the Formations Care Home in Shipley. It is a place where those who are caring for a relative or friend with dementia can talk about their experiences and listen to others in a similar situation. Drawing on the input from each of the members, the group finds support and the energy they need to carry on in their own particular challenging circumstances.
