What’s On – October 2023

Read on for details of our upcoming Sunday and weekday worship services (including live stream links), prayer meetings, and other group activities and events taking place at St Paul’s during the month of October.

Sunday Worship Services

Sunday 1st October

  • 10am – Holy Communion (live streamed)
  • 7pm – Xtra

Join us in church or online for Holy Communion this Sunday, with Sue Lawrence leading, and Malcolm Hendry presiding and preaching. The readings for this service will be Hebrews 13:1-3 and Luke 4:16-30. Today’s theme is ‘A Welcome Manifesto’. Alternatively, come along to Xtra, our more informal service, led by Sue Lawrence, with Mark Allison speaking, at the new time of 7pm. The reading for this service will be Luke 4:16-30.

Sunday 8th October – Harvest

  • 9am – Harvest Breakfast
  • 10am – Family Harvest Service (live streamed)

Join us from 9am for breakfast, followed by our all-age Family Harvest Service today (in church and online), with Rachel Hesselwood leading and Sue Lawrence speaking. The reading for this service will be Deuteronomy 10:17-22; 14:28; 24:21-22 and the theme will be ‘Hospitality Principles.

Sunday 15th October – CAP Sunday

  • 10am – Holy Communion (live streamed)

Join us in church or online for Holy Communion this Sunday, with Mark Allison leading and preaching, and Malcolm Hendry presiding. The readings for this service will be James 2:14-18 and Matthew 14:13-21. The theme will be ‘Hospitality in Action’.

Please note, there will be no Xtra service today. Instead, you are encouraged to attend the Shipley Christians Together Annual General Meeting & Celebration Service at St Margaret’s Church at 6:30pm. 

Sunday 22nd October

  • 10am – Morning Worship (live streamed)
  • 7pm – Taize Service

Join us in church or online for Morning Worship today, with Sue Lawrence leading and Mark Allison preaching. The readings for this service will be Romans 12:14-21 and Luke 6:27-36. The theme will be ‘Welcoming the enemy’. Deborah Penfold and Eleanor Wilman will be leading our Taize service at 7pm.

Sunday 29th October – Bible Sunday

  • 10am – Holy Communion (live streamed)
  • 4pm – Annual Memorial Service

Join us in church or online for Holy Communion this Bible Sunday, with Brian Greenfield leading and presiding, and guest speaker Adam Carver, Chair of Shipley Christians Together, preaching. The readings for this service will be 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12 and Matthew 24:30-35. 

Our Annual Memorial Service takes place at 4pm today with Chris Clough leading and Brian Greenfield speaking. The readings for this service will be Psalm 23 and Romans 8:31-39.

Weekday Worship Services

Wednesday Holy Communion

10am – A short, quiet and reflective service on Wednesday mornings throughout the year, followed by refreshments at 10.30am

Prayer Meetings

An Hour of Prayer

10am – Join us for an hour of prayer on Tuesday mornings (not held on the last Tuesday of the month).

An Evening of Prayer

7.30pm – Join us for an evening of prayer on the last Tuesday of the month via Zoom.
